Goodbye, Old Friend
I'm moving data out of system A,
Its destination? Systems B and C.
So many transformations required,
As system A’s an old legacy.
But chums B and C are new, crisp and clean,
Their data models refreshed and superb.
That dear old data born in system A
Has become a bit worried, perturbed.
I loved the data housed in system A;
We know each other so very well.
But the time is right, even I can see,
The business needs new clientele.
I held your hand through Year 2K, what fun!
We stayed up late, side by side, fixing faults.
I kept your data clean and up-to-date,
And cared for glossaries and reports.
I'll move you gently, so don't be afraid,
I guarantee your transforms will be true.
In B and C your data will be safe,
I won't let it forget about you.
So system A, it’s time to let you be.
Goodbye, old friend. I am your legacy.
